Yunomi - Nuka Glaze - Reduction Fired - B25/2
Handmade wheel-thrown yunomi in white stoneware with a speckled white satin nuka glaze in which I use ash I collected last winter from our wood burner at home to create the melt and colour.
These are one-off pieces, thrown off the hump. The reduction atmosphere of the charcoal saggar inside the kiln creates the colour in both clay and glaze.
This style of Japanese tea cup is equally useful for shorter coffee servings.
Fired to cone 8 in a charcoal reduction firing saggar
My maker's mark is brushed on the base in black underglaze after the foot ring has been turned by hand.
